About Us…
Welcome to the hive! I am Brian Porter AKA “Papaw B” the owner/ operator of “Papaw B’s Honey LLC. Of course, besides being a beekeeper, I am the proud papaw of five beautiful grandchildren. By my side for nearly 43 years is my wife Nancy who has supported me in all my somewhat questionable endeavors. Nancy has a background in culinary arts and restaurant management. Hopefully she will have some awesome honey related recipes to share on my website. Stay tuned for the recipes!
How It Started…
My beekeeping adventure started in 2018 when a good friend and fellow beekeeper said that I probably would be good at it since he knew that I loved farming, gardening, and woodworking. You know what? That guy was right! I took to beekeeping like a hive beetle on a pollen patty and Papaw B’s Honey was born! Although I am not a multigeneration beekeeper I have always had interest in the social activities of honeybees and farm animals. I am told that my papaw was a beekeeper as well, but I do not remember it. I spent most of my adult life maintaining complex electronic systems for the US Navy and I will tell you folks a colony of honeybees is no less complex and challenging to maintain.
Our Mission…
Our mission is to promote the health and propagation of honeybees. This can only be done by working collectively with other beekeepers and sharing information about bee nutrition, pest management and best beekeeping practices. I plan to use this website to do just that while producing delicious raw-pure honey for my family and friends which happens to be every PBH customer. Thank you for your patience as more products are added to the website.
